SeaWorld has quietly become the cheapest place in Orlando to do a seasonal event properly. While Universal and Disney keep pushing their party tickets past $100 and $200, SeaWorld runs a Halloween event with advance tickets from under $40, a Christmas event that costs nothing on top of admission, and a spring food festival that runs for three and a half months. None of that makes Howl-O-Scream SeaWorld Orlando a direct rival to Halloween Horror Nights, and we will get to why. But it does mean that anyone watching their budget should look at SeaWorld’s calendar before anyone else’s.
This guide works through the whole year at SeaWorld Orlando: Howl-O-Scream and the family-friendly Halloween Spooktacular in the autumn, the Christmas Celebration, the Seven Seas Food Festival in spring, Electric Ocean in summer, and the smaller weekends in between. For each one it covers what you get, whether it needs its own ticket, and whether it is worth planning around. Dates and prices were checked in September 2026 against SeaWorld’s own event pages. Treat prices as the right order of magnitude, because SeaWorld’s advance pricing moves with demand. The pattern is worth noticing. Of everything SeaWorld runs, only Howl-O-Scream needs its own ticket. Everything else is included with a day at the park, which means the question for most of the year is not “should I pay for this?” but “does this change which week I visit?”
Howl-O-Scream: SeaWorld’s Halloween nights
Howl-O-Scream is SeaWorld’s answer to Halloween Horror Nights: a separately ticketed, after-dark horror event aimed at teens and adults, with haunted houses, scare zones roaming with actors, themed bars and the park’s big coasters running in the dark. In 2026 it runs on 26 select nights between 11 September and 31 October.

That price spread is the single most important thing to understand about Howl-O-Scream. The same event can cost you $40 or $126 depending on which night you pick and when you buy. There are very few Orlando products where planning ahead cuts the price by two thirds, and this is one of them.
Is Howl-O-Scream a daytime ticket add-on?
No, and this catches people out every year. A normal SeaWorld day ticket does not get you into Howl-O-Scream, even on an event night. Daytime guests without an event ticket need to leave before it starts, and you need a separate Howl-O-Scream ticket to stay or come back in. Bundles and pass offers do appear, but you have to buy one of those specifically. Do not assume you’re covered.
What the night is actually like
Howl-O-Scream is structured the way you’d expect. Haunted houses are walk-through mazes where you queue and then move through themed rooms with scare actors. Scare zones are open-air areas where performers work the crowd as you walk. Bars and themed drinks fill the gaps. What makes SeaWorld’s version distinctive is that some of the park’s best coasters are running in the dark.
That last point is undersold. Riding Mako, Kraken or Manta at night is a different experience from riding them in the Florida sun, and on a quieter Howl-O-Scream evening the coaster queues can be short, because most of the crowd is there for the houses. Check which rides are operating on your night, since the line-up can vary, but if a big coaster is running, it’s often the best-value thing you can do all evening.
Howl-O-Scream vs Halloween Horror Nights
This is the comparison everyone makes, and the honest answer is that they are not the same kind of product.

Halloween Horror Nights is the bigger, more ambitious, more famous event, with licensed houses (in 2026 including Stranger Things 5, Hellraiser, Evil Dead Burn and an Ozzy Osbourne house) and a production budget to match. Howl-O-Scream wins on three things: price, crowds, and the coasters. A teenager who wants a scary night out, a couple who want the Halloween atmosphere without spending $200 on two tickets, or anyone who hates the HHN crowds will often have a better evening at SeaWorld. And for horror fans with more than one night, doing both is entirely reasonable when one of them costs $40.
Is Howl-O-Scream worth it?
- At an advance or promo price on a quieter September night: yes, easily. At around $40 it’s the cheapest ticketed Halloween night in Orlando by a wide margin, and a quiet night means short queues for houses and coasters.
- At the top gate price on a late October weekend: it gets much harder to justify. At $125.99, you are paying more than an HHN entry-level ticket for a smaller event. If you’re paying peak prices, go to Universal instead, or buy SeaWorld earlier.
- For young children: no. Howl-O-Scream is designed to frighten, and it does. Bring small kids to the daytime Halloween Spooktacular instead (below).
Tips for Howl-O-Scream
- Buy early and online. The price gap between the cheapest and most expensive nights is the biggest in Orlando events.
- Pick a September weeknight if you can. The first weeks are the quietest and usually the cheapest. The last two October weekends are the busiest.
- Be at the gate for 6:30pm. The first hour after the 7pm start is the easiest time for the most popular houses.
- Do the coasters in the gaps. When the house queues build, check the coaster waits.
- Look at Quick Queue-style upgrades carefully. On a quiet night they’re wasted money. On a peak October Saturday they can be the difference between four houses and all of them.
- Read the bag and costume rules before you go. Adult costumes and masks are commonly restricted at horror events for safety reasons, so check SeaWorld’s current policy.
Halloween Spooktacular: the one for little kids
On select dates from 29 August to 1 November 2026, SeaWorld runs Halloween Spooktacular during the day. It’s a family event, included with regular admission, and it’s the exact opposite of Howl-O-Scream: friendly character meet-and-greets, Halloween décor, a pumpkin carving festival, and nothing designed to scare anyone under ten.
The two events share the season but not the park at the same time. Spooktacular runs by day for families, and Howl-O-Scream takes over at night for teens and adults. That makes SeaWorld one of the better choices in Orlando for a family with a mixed-age group. The small ones get a gentle Halloween afternoon, and the teenagers can come back after dark if they want the real thing.
Is it worth changing your plans for? Probably not on its own. It’s a pleasant layer on top of a SeaWorld day rather than a destination event. Christmas Celebration: the best-value event SeaWorld runs
SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration runs on select dates from 6 November 2026 to 4 January 2027, and it is included with regular park admission. That puts it in the same category as Universal’s holiday season, and a very different one from Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, which costs $189–$229 on top of a Magic Kingdom ticket in 2026.
What you get:
- Lights. More than three million of them across the park. After dark, SeaWorld’s lakes and pathways reflect them in a way that looks better than the numbers suggest.
- Holiday food. More than 40 Christmas-inspired dishes sold around the park.
- Seasonal shows. SeaWorld refreshes its holiday entertainment regularly, and for 2026 it has added a new drone show. Check the show schedule for the evening you visit.
- Holiday shopping and seasonal décor throughout.
Why it is worth planning around
Christmas Celebration is our pick of SeaWorld’s calendar for one simple reason: it adds genuinely good evening entertainment to a normal ticket, at a time of year when Orlando’s other headline Christmas event costs well over $200 for a family of four. Combine that with the fact that SeaWorld is usually less crowded than Disney or Universal in the weeks around Thanksgiving and early December, and it’s hard to find a better-value festive evening in the city.
The caveats are about timing rather than quality:
- It runs on select dates, not every day. Especially early in November, check that the event is operating before building a day around it.
- Christmas week and New Year are busy everywhere. SeaWorld is no exception from about 20 December to 1 January. See our guide to Orlando theme parks over the holidays.
- The value is in the evening. Arrive mid-afternoon, do the animals and any rides while it’s light, and stay until close for the lights. Arriving at opening and leaving at dusk misses most of the event.
Seven Seas Food Festival: spring grazing
The Seven Seas Food Festival is SeaWorld’s longest event and the one that most improves the park’s weakest area, which is honestly its food. In 2026 it ran 30 January to 17 May, with more than 200 dishes and drinks from cuisines around the world sold from booths through the park. It’s included with admission. You pay for what you eat.
For 2026 SeaWorld folded its old Viva La Música Latin celebration into the festival, and the programme is organised around themed moments through the spring, with Mardi Gras, St. Patrick’s Day and Cinco de Mayo each getting their own treatment. Live music is part of the programme, so check the concert schedule for your dates, particularly if a performance is the reason you’re going.
SeaWorld has confirmed that Seven Seas returns in 2027, but it had not published the 2027 dates when this guide was written. Expect a similar late January to mid-May window, and confirm before booking.
How it compares with EPCOT’s festivals
People inevitably compare Seven Seas with the EPCOT food festivals, and it is useful to be clear about the difference. EPCOT has World Showcase, which gives its festivals a ready-made walk around eleven pavilions, and a much larger, more polished food operation. Seven Seas is smaller and less of a destination in its own right.
But it has two real advantages. It turns a SeaWorld day into a much better eating day than it would otherwise be, and it’s paired with an afternoon of coasters, penguins and dolphins rather than a walk around a lagoon. If you are already going to SeaWorld between February and mid-May, Seven Seas is a big plus. If you are choosing a food festival for its own sake, EPCOT’s Flower & Garden Festival is the stronger event over the same months.
Is the sampler worth it?
SeaWorld has typically sold a sampler lanyard, a prepaid card for a set number of festival items. We didn’t find a published 2026 price, so do the maths on the day. Look at the prices of the four or five dishes you actually want, add them up, and only buy the sampler if it clearly beats that total. Samplers are good value for groups who plan to graze their way through lunch and dinner, and poor value for anyone who just wants a couple of tastes.
Summer Nights: Electric Ocean
When the Florida summer arrives, SeaWorld stays open late and runs Electric Ocean, an evening line-up of glowing décor, shows and a nightly finale. In 2026 that included Club SeaGlow, and Ignite, with a drone show and fireworks. SeaWorld also used the event to mark World Oceans Day in June.
Electric Ocean is included with admission, and its real benefit is practical rather than spectacular: it gives you the park at night in a season when the afternoons are brutal. Arrive after lunch, rest through the worst of the heat, spend the late afternoon on rides and animals, and stay for the evening entertainment. Worth planning around? For families visiting in June, July or early August, yes. It’s the reason to put SeaWorld on an evening rather than a morning. It’s not a reason on its own to visit Orlando in summer.
The smaller events and weekends
Between the big four, SeaWorld’s calendar is filled with shorter celebrations. None of them justifies moving a trip, but it’s nice to know they are there.
- Three Kings Celebration (early January). A celebration of the Día de los Reyes tradition, with themed food and entertainment.
- Inside Look. A behind-the-scenes programme focused on animal care, which is the kind of thing SeaWorld does better than any other park in Orlando.
- Just for Kids Weekend and Elmo’s Birthday Celebration. Family programming built around the Sesame Street area. Both are good add-ons if you have preschoolers. See our SeaWorld Sesame Street guide.
- Military Appreciation Month (May). Special recognition and offers for service members and veterans through the whole of May. Check SeaWorld’s military page for the current offer.
- Bands, Brew & BBQ (July). Live music, barbecue and beer in July. It’s more adult-leaning than most SeaWorld events.
- ASL Saturdays. On the first Saturday of every month, SeaWorld runs American Sign Language-interpreted shows, which is worth knowing for Deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors picking a date.
- Pass Member & Military/Veteran Picnic. A one-off event for pass holders and military guests (20 September in 2026).

Tickets and passes for events
Because almost every event is included with admission, the ticket question comes down to two things.

For locals or anyone visiting more than once in a year, SeaWorld’s Fun Card and annual passes are the cheapest way to catch several events. SeaWorld regularly runs promotions where a pass bought late in one year includes the rest of that year free. The 2026 Fun Card launched from $143.99 with the rest of 2025 included, and an Aquatica add-on was $56 more. Those specific offers have moved on, but the pattern repeats, so check the current deal before buying anything else. Laid out like that, SeaWorld’s position is clear. It’s never the most spectacular option in a season, but it’s consistently the cheapest, and for families with young children or teenagers who want to be scared without Universal’s prices, that matters. - Budget-conscious horror fans: an early Howl-O-Scream ticket is the cheapest scare night in Orlando.
- Families with young children at Halloween: Spooktacular by day avoids the late nights and the price of a Disney party.
- Anyone visiting from mid-November: the Christmas Celebration is the best free-with-admission holiday evening outside EPCOT.
- Summer visitors: Electric Ocean makes SeaWorld an evening park, which is exactly what July needs.
